Saturday
Paris – Reims – Luxembourg
This morning we begin our journey along the beautiful French countryside and into the city of Reims. The city is known as the capital of Champagne, and old province of France made word famous by its sparkling wine. Reims played a very important role in French history, as it was the place where the kings of France were crowned since the 11th century. The Cathedral of Reims, where the coronations took place, became an important symbol of French heritage. Later, we will drive ahead to Luxembourg, the only remaining Grand Duchy in the world. On our arrival, we will enjoy an orientation of the Place de Constitution, the canyon in the city, and Pont Adophe. We then relax for an overnight stay in Luxembourg or nearby city.
Sunday
Luxembourg – Trier – Koblenz – Frankfurt
Today our first city to visit is Trier. Germany’s oldest city is sometimes called “The Second Rome” since Constantine the great of the Roman Empire served as an administrator there for 10 years. We will then make our way to Porta Nigra, the best preserved roman city gate north of the Alps. Trier is also the birthplace of the influential philosopher Karl Marx and we will visit the Karl Marx Haus museum which is the house where he was born. Later we will drive to Koblenz, where the Rhine and Mosel rivers meet. We will have lunch in this famous scenic place, and then have the choice to take a river cruise along the Rhine. In the afternoon we drive over to Frankfurt am Main with a stop in Rudesheim. On arrival to Frankfurt, we will enjoy a scenic tour of Romer platz. We finish the day with an overnight stay in Frankfurt or nearby city.
Monday
Frankfurt – Bonn – Cologne – Amsterdam
Today we will drive to Bonn, the capital of “West Germany” from the years 1949 to 1990. After the cold war the head of Government moved back to Berlin following German reunification. We will tour the streets of Bonn as we learn more about its rich history. Later on we will enjoy a tour to the historic Town Hall, Ludwig Van Beethoven Haus, which is a museum today on the life of the late composer. We then drive over to Cologne, to see the Cologne Cathedral, the most famous area in this city and protected by UNESCOs world heritage site. The rest of the afternoon is at your leisure and can relax or enjoy some local shopping. We finish our day by driving over to Amsterdam where we make an overnight stay or nearby.
Tuesday
Amsterdam – Zaanse Schans – Amsterdam (50 km)
Today we enjoy our morning sightseeing tour to a countryside excursion to the village of Zaanse Schans, where we visit the Wooden Shoes Factory, Cheese Farm and stop for photos at the typical windmills which was one of the most important and historic architecture since The Netherlands started to established their country. After drive takes us back to the city centre, to visit the famous diamond factory which has been in a high technique since the 16th century. Then it’s the time for you to leisure or perhaps take a Canal Cruise will be a good idea to spend your evening before dinner.Overnight in Amsterdam or nearby city.(Start from now till 20th May 2013, we will go to Keukenhof instead of The Hague. More details refer: www.keukenhof.com. And from 20th May 2013 to 30th July 2013,will still keep the same itinerary to The Hague. And from 30th July 2013,we will not go to The Hague any more.)
Wednesday
Amsterdam – Brussels – Paris
Our day begins with a drive from Amsterdam to Brussels, the Belgian capital and political capital of the European Union. Before we arrive, we will stop for a photo at the Atomium monument in honor of the first World Fair which took place in Brussels in 1958 after the Second World War. Once in the city centre, we will enjoy an orientation at the beautiful Grand Place and the well know statue Manneken Pis. We then depart Brussels and drive to the most splendid city of Paris, France. We stay the night in Paris or nearby.
Thursday
Paris – Versailles – Paris
Today we will enjoy a variety of different scenic and historical sites of Paris. We drive along the famous avenue of Champs Elysees to the Place de la Concorde, where the royal family and many aristocratic members were guillotined during the Revolution. We will also see the Arc de Triomphe, which sits near the Western end of the avenue. The Arch was built to commemorate those who have fallen during the revolution and Napoleonic wars. Then we drive up to the Hotel des Invalides, where the Tomb de Napoleon is located before we make our way to the ascent of the Eiffel Tower. You may also decide to take a relaxing scenic Seine river cruise featuring such highlights as Notre Dame Cathedral and Pont Alexandre III. If interested ask your tour guide for Seine river cruse arrangements. The rest of the afternoon will be committed to the glorious Palace of Versailles, which was built as a hunting lodge by Louis XIII. The palace remained the residence of the royal family from 1722 until the Revolution of 1789. Today the palace is a must see attraction for many visitors. We will then head back to the hotel in or near Paris for an overnight stay.
Friday
Paris
Our morning will begin by visiting one of the world’s greatest art museums, The Louvre. Here we can enjoy some of the world’s most renowned masterpieces such as the sight of Venus de Milo, Winged Victory of Samothrace (also called Nike of Samothrace) and the most famous work by Leonardo da Vinci, The Mona Lisa. Ask your guide on how you can arrange your Louvre tour which allows you to browse though thousands of fine art works in just a few hours. We later drive over to Place d’ Italie for lunch, and after the tour guide will take the group to enjoy a ride on the Paris underground metro to get a feel on how the Paris transport system works. Rest of the afternoon is at your leisure and shopping is near the Opera. After dinner we meet with the tour guide to return back to the Hotel for an overnight stay in Paris or nearby.
Saturday
Depart from Paris
After breakfast, our driver will take you to the airport for your flight back home/to the next destination. ALTERNATIVELY, you can join our Europe Green Line Tour for one more week.
